Senior Counselor: Camp Pegnita is looking for committed and fun Senior counselors who are 18 years of age or older, and have childcare experience. Senior counselors are ultimately responsible for a group of 10-20 campers, but will work alongside at least one other staff member, depending on the age of the campers and the size of the group. In addition to providing for the safety and supervision of the campers, the senior counselor is responsible for planning and leading age-appropriate and enjoyable activities for his/her campers, helping to "mentor" our counselors-in-training, attending camp events, and assisting in other staff tasks. All counselors will attend an orientation week prior to the first week of camp, and will receive CPR certification during that time.
Junior Counselor: Camp Pegnita is looking for committed and energetic Junior counselors between the ages of 15 and 17. However, applicants under the age of 16 are required to have attended our Counselor Training Program during a previous summer. The junior counselor is responsible for helping to supervise and care for his/her group of campers, but will work alongside at least one senior counselor. In addition to providing for the safety and supervision of the campers, the junior counselor is responsible for helping to plan and lead age-appropriate and enjoyable activities for his/her campers, providing support to the senior counselor, attending camp events, and assisting in other staff tasks. All counselors will attend an orientation week prior to the first week of camp, and will receive CPR certification during that time.
Head Lifeguard: Camp Pegnita is looking for a committed and experienced lifeguard to manage our pool and swimming program this summer. Candidates should have experience with maintenance of a pool including cleaning and balancing chemicals. Additionally, qualified applicants will be seasoned swim lesson instructors; all campers participate in daily lessons. Experience supervising a staff is a plus, but not required.
Lifeguard: Camp Pegnita is looking for committed lifeguards to provide a SAFE swimming experience at our on-site pool. Lifeguards will also teach Red Cross swimming lessons for the first half of the day. In addition to teaching and supervising at the pool, lifeguards are responsible for helping with pool maintenance throughout the summer. All lifeguards must be certified prior to the beginning of camp, but the camp directors will work with applicants who are not yet certified to ensure that this requirement is met.
Art Director: Camp Pegnita is looking for a committed and creative Art Director who will work within the confines of camp to develop a variety of projects that will engage campers age 2 and a half to 12 years old. The applicant must be at least 18, but we welcome those with more experience and/or educational background in art. All campers attend art 2-3 times per week so it is important that the applicant is organized. An ideal candidate has some experience working with children as they may be asked to support our counselors at various times.
Art Assistant: Camp Pegnita is looking for a committed and creative Art Assistant. The candidate should be 16 or older, or have completed the Pegnita CIT program, be excited about working with children and have a love of art. This person will assist the Art Director in daily activities and may be asked to support counselors at various times.
Late Stay Lead: Camp Pegnita is looking for a committed and caring individual to lead our Late Stay program. You must be 18 or older to apply for this position. This person will be required to be at camp from 2:30pm-6pm M-F throughout the summer. The Late Stay Lead will be responsible for planning activities, supervising a small late stay team of staff and directly caring for campers. The position has the potential to continue during the school year and expand hours during the summer if there is interest.
Late Stay Staff: Camp Pegnita is looking for committed Late Stay Staff who are 16 or older. Late Stay Staff will be require to be at camp from 3pm-6pm M-F throughout the summer. The position has the potential to continue during the school year and expand hours during the summer if there is interest.
